About Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice course provides a comprehensive and hands-on curriculum that challenges and prepares those students who are interested in pursuing possible careers within the Criminal Justice field. This year long course prepares students through community partnerships, academic study, hands on experiences, and the development of 21st Century Skills.

CPR training, hazardous materials awareness, and the National Incident Management System are also included within this program. The program has an emphasis on law enforcement, corrections, and the judicial system.

Meet the Teacher

John Green

John Green is the Criminal Justice instructor at NCTA in Mount Vernon. He graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. His career in law enforcement with the Aberdeen Police Department spanned over 31 years.

John served in a variety of positions during his career including Patrol Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol Captain, and Detective Investigations Captain. John also served and led additional assignments that included Firearm Instructor, Hostage Negotiator, Range Master, Force Unit Supervisor, and Crisis Response Unit Commander.

John is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, class 222, and has been an associate member of the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, National Tactical Officers Association, Washington State Association of Firearm Instructors, and the Washington State Council of Police Officers.
